Aeromodelling and spacemodelling competitions organized under the FAI (Fédération Aéronautique Internationale) are much more than sport, they are real engineering projects. From the first sketch to the final flight, competitors learn aerodynamics, structural design, composite materials, electronics and avionics, propulsion, testing, and safe flight operations. This is one of the best ways to develop new talent for Aerospace Engineering and for hands-on specialists (composites, manufacturing, CAD/CAM, integration, and troubleshooting).
PR-DC co-owner and aerospace engineer Mihailo Petrović became a world champion in 2023 in Texas, USA, winning the title in the FAI Spacemodelling S9 (Rocket with Gyrocopter) category, competing against teams from around the world.
After years of supporting aero-sport competitions, PR-DC established the Aero Club to provide a practical path for young talents into Aerospace Engineering, with real projects, real mentorship, and real flight experience.
To address the lack of real-time altitude measurement at space-modeling competitions, PR-DC engineers developed wAltimeter, an atmospheric-pressure-based altimeter that transmits data by radio in real time. It is approved for use and already deployed at competitions organized by the FAI Aeromodelling Commission (CIAM).
